Different versions of cooker hoods
Models of EICO cooker hoods can function as either an air circulation version or an exhaust version. Exhaust versions of cooker hoods lead cooking fumes and vapours out of the house and the air inside is thusly replaced, while the recirculation versions of cooker hoods clean the air using grease- and recycling filters in order to lead the air back into the kitchen again afterwards.
The choice of which version of cooker hood to choose, depends on the mood of each separate user, but a couple of simple guidelines can be laid down:
1.
In the exhaust version, the cooker hood has to be connected to a specially designed system of pipes, which can lead the air outside. These pipes must have a diameter of at least 120mm – preferably larger – and has to be installed so that they are as short as possible and with as few bends as possible. The longer the pipes are, and the more bends that are needed on the pipes, the larger the reduction of the pressure – and with it, the reduction in the effective exhaust – will be.
2.
With the recirculation version, the pipework to a point outside the kitchen is not needed. Instead, the air is cleansed through circulation through active carbon filters and is then lead back to the kitchen. With this version of cooker hood, it is very important, that the carbon filters are maintained correctly and that they are replaced or cleaned regularly depending on need.
Note that there are special rules regarding cooker hoods hanging above gas stoves. These rules differ from country to country. Follow the instruction manual and the national regulations.
